Grading System

University of Toronto uses letter grades with a 4.0 GPA scale. A+=90–100% (4.0), A=85–89% (4.0), A−=80–84% (3.7), B+=77–79% (3.3). Official transcripts are sent by the Office of the Registrar after term end.

Exam Culture

U of T runs Canadian semester rhythm (Fall Sep–Dec, Winter Jan–Apr) with attendance not formally required for lectures but tracked for tutorials, labs, and seminars. Most courses grade 30–50% on continuous assessment (assignments, mid-terms, papers) and 50–70% on a final exam. Reading Week in February offers a mid-term pause. Faculty culture varies widely — Rotman cases vs. engineering problem sets vs. arts essays — check syllabus per course.
