Exchange Basics

Requirements

Partner nomination, online application, transcript, recommendation letter, study plan, language proof, and Japan Student Visa via Certificate of Eligibility.

Nomination Process

Your home international office nominates you to Osaka CIEE by the deadline. Osaka CIEE contacts the student directly with application instructions.

Visa Support

Most nationalities need a Japan Student Visa. Osaka CIEE issues the Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) — apply for the visa at a Japanese consulate after receiving CoE. Allow 4–8 weeks for the full process.

Buddy System

Osaka University International Students Association (OUISA) and CIEE buddy programme pair exchange students with Japanese students throughout the semester.

Orientation Week

Osaka University International Orientation runs at semester start — registration, student ID, campus tour, medical check, and social events. Attendance mandatory.
