Exchange Basics

Requirements

Applicants must have a good academic record (typically GPA >= 2.75 or 3.0 out of 4.0), have completed at least one year of university study, and demonstrate English language proficiency (TOEFL iBT 79, IELTS 6.0, or equivalent) if applying for international programs taught in English.

Nomination Process

Partner institutions submit nominations to OIA Chula. Nominated students are then invited to complete the online application form and upload all supporting documents.

Arrival Checklist

  • Obtain your Non-Immigrant (ED) Visa from a Thai embassy/consulate prior to departure.
  • Complete the Chula student profile registry (CR20 form) upon arrival.
  • Check in at CU iHouse or your private accommodation.
  • Attend the OIA orientation session and register for your student ID card.

Academics

Course Registration

Course registration is processed through the Chula Office of the Registrar system. Students must confirm course schedules with their host faculty advisors during the first two weeks of classes.

Credit System

Chula credit system. 1 lecture credit equals 1 hour of class time per week for 15 weeks. Standard exchange load is 12-18 credits per semester.

Grading System

Grading scale: A (4.0 - Excellent), B+ (3.5 - Very Good), B (3.0 - Good), C+ (2.5 - Fairly Good), C (2.0 - Fair), D+ (1.5 - Poor), D (1.0 - Very Poor), F (0.0 - Fail). Course withdrawals are marked as 'W'.

Exam Culture

Strict 80% class attendance is mandatory to sit for exams. Midterm and final exams make up the majority of the grade, alongside projects and class participation.
